I got my dbox setup how I wanted with a working newsticker plugin. I then backed up my image. Since then I have been messing with the box and ended up doing something wrong.
So I flashed my backup image back onto the box. The only thing is the newsticker isnt working. I am getting something along the lines of page not found on all my feeds. I have tested the feeds on internet and they are fine.
My tuxwetter works fine and accesses the net with no problem. I have even downloaded latest version of newsticker and that does not seem to work either (same problem).
Any advice gratefully accepted.

Can you upload a copy of your NewsTicker configuration file for us to look at? (I think its called tuxnews.conf in the /var/tuxbox/config directory).

Also you say you are using the latest version, which version number is that?
Liam.

I am using version 0.42 and here is what is in my tuxnews.conf file

Size = 2
Speed = 2
Color = 4
Position = 480
Favorite = 1
LoopMode = 1
ProxyAddr = -
ProxyPort = -
ProxyUser = -
ProxyPass = -

I dont know if I am to fill in the proxy details, if so, what with. My Dbox to PC setup is just a crossover cable to a LAN card. My internet connection is a different LAN card with connection to cable modem with dynamically assigned IP number.

Can you please verify that using the above setup, my network settings are correct:

PC. (LAN to dbox)
----
IP - 192.168.0.1
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.0.1
DNS - 192.168.0.1

PC. (LAN to internet)
--------------------------
IP - Assigned by ISP

DBOX
-------
DHCP - Off
IP - 192.168.0.4
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Broadcast - 192.168.0.255
Gateway - 192.168.0.1
DNS - 192.168.0.1

Once again, any help is appreciated

OK your setup is fine. How about the file that contains the list of news feeds to display? (cant remember, it might be called tuxnews.adr or tuxnews.list?? probably not) For the proxy server bits just leave them blank, making sure that there is nothing after the equals sign.

OK, with the default list, what error message do you get (if any)?

The error is "keine nachrichten auf der angegebenen seite gefunden" which when I look at the translation means "none realign on the indicated side found"

I'm sure it has something to do with my xp settings somewhere. Maybe a service that has started or stopped.
