Hi
I am in the process of setting up a Dm500s in my home.
I currently have a wireless router in my kitchen connected to the telephone line which feeds 2 seperate PC's via PCI cards.
This is working perfectly.
My Dreambox is in my living room .
I would like to connect the Dreambox to the internet .
I will have to connect it wirelessly as it is too messy via a cable.
I think a wireless ethernet bridge is required.
I have a spare TP-Link wireless access point and I'm wondering could I use this instead of a bridge or will it not be suitable ?
Any advice is appreciated

I use an ethernet bridge and it works 100% so there's no worries there.

An access point or gaming adapter might work but you may need to configure it to work as a bridge. No idea how to do a D-Link, maybe google it and see what comes up.

In your network setting on the dreambox, you will need to put the router ip address in the nameserver and Gateway fields in the communication setup page. Remember it's the router ip and not the bridge ip, it's the router that's the gateway to the internet, not the bridge. ;)

Thanks for that info Devilfish.
What type of ethernet bridge do you have ?

The main wireless bridges used are the
D-Link DWL-G810
Linksys WET11
Linksys WET54G
Netgear WGE111
They are quite pricey for such a basic device when you compare them to their usb brethren.

Hi Fano,
which one of these devices you got it work perfectly?
U mention here because somebody else told you or it is just your research?

Anybody tried the electric ethernet bridge?

Thanks

I havent bought any of these bridges yet ,I am still trying to get the access point to do the job.
I have seen the mentioned adapters verified by people on other forums so they do work.
Dont know about the electric ethernet bridge, you'd need 2 so thats pretty expensive.
One of these should work
