Network Prob

Ive tryed connecting to my d-box but having problems.

My ip is set to:

192.168.0.4

and the d-box is set to:

192.168.0.5

netmask is set same and so is the gateway.

I tryed pinging to the d-box but no joy.

DHCP is off

any ideas?

Try these settings:

netmask to 255.255.255.0
broadcast to 192.168.0.255

The default gateway doesn't matter.

is your subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0. ? if so have got your firewalls and antivirus turned off

I have both of these set on my dboc
netmask to 255.255.255.0
broadcast to 192.168.0.255


Do i need to add the broadcast to my pc if so where?

Definetly using crossover.

Go to the Control Panel on your PC, Network Connections, does it say 'connected' when the crossover cable is plugged in to the dbox and your pc???

Is the green light flashing on the back of the network card???

I had the same problems the other night, what you can try is on the dbox, go into the network setup option and select test network(or something like that, it is obvious) this will then display a message make sure it can at least see itself(1st line of message) if it can't hit ok then select start network and test it again.

I work in networks and couldn't figure this out as everything was setup properly, the problem lay with the box not starting it's own network so try out above.

Problem was a faulty network cable
