Network Card Problem

Hi can anyone help. my computer says that the cable is unplugged when it is not. I checked device manager to see if it was a problem with the nic, but it says that it is working fine. the network settings are fine (detect automatically etc) I have even checked the bios to make sure the Lan had not been disabled but that is fine too. Everything was working fine until there was a power cut and computer went off. This has happened before and after about 4 days the Nic has started to work properly again but i want a quicker fix than just sitting on my tod waiting for something to happen. Can anyone help. Cheers in advance.

Have you tried totally uninstalling the network card then running the wizard again.... Does it not re detect if you unplug the cable and put it back in ?

into a Netgear router, but i have tried with different cables and stil no change. I think i am gonna have to leave it and let itself sort it out. That's what happened before.

as its a lappy do u have a friend who has a network u could go and try plugging it into ?
u only need to see if u can see the network, it would prove if problem is lappy or your other devices.

i know it might be a silly question, but have you tried a reboot on the router?

otherwise you need to eliminate possible issues. Can you connect to a switch or another router? can you connect anything else to the router except your laptop?

have you tried different ports on the router?

try these and you should find out which of the things will be the cuase.
