NAS

Currently have a very old PC with a 500GB HD acting as a file server. The PC does not have usb 3 ports.

So my idea is to get a 3 - 4 GB NAS.

Currently I map network drives to PCs and record stuff from Tivimate directly using IP and user name and password. I need this facility rather than having to use dedicated apps.

Budget it £200, what have you guys and girls got and what do you recommend?

Second hand HP N54L with four drives and unRAID software file system.

I think I bought the last N54Ls in existence a few years back but they come up lightly used on fleaBay.

They are servers, not NAS, you could install MS server OS and use software RAID. That would give you flexibility.

really want something more plug and play, plus once I add the drives it will be over budget

why not get a sata card and a few 2 tb skyboxes for drives
picked up 3 over the last few month for a tenner each
