n64 on psp help

hi, does anyone know why the n64 emulator the R14 beta on psp runs so slow? am i doing any thing wrong? i am using 3.90 m33-3,
i have tried mario kart and super smash bros both run slowly

the N64 is known for its bad performance on the PSP.

its more the games than the emulator tho.
N64 games require alot of power...more than the PSP is really capable of.
some games work ok and some are very laggy.

there are various settings in the emulator that you can try.
it will help smooth some games out a bit.
