Hi can anyone tell me if MP3 can be converted to M4a so i can play audio on my 360

I think the 360 can play MP3s. I thought so anyway. I've wouldnt imagine it would play M4A files. Where did you get this info?

its not playing the songs its that it wont let me rip a disc i've created. but when i try a friends disc that he has bought rips fine and to my knowledge albums bought from a shop the format of the audio files are m4a

Audio CD are held in a format that windows displays as CDA.

M4A (as used by itunes and other apps) is a compressed audio format that includes DRM information. I don't know about the 360 ability to play m4a It is posible that the disc you created contained DRM protected files ?

Yeah, M4A are itunes music files. They definitely won't play on the 360.

What software are you using to rip the CD. Make sure you are ripping to MP3 or not to AAC if you're using iTunes.

If you burnt a CD and you now want to rip it, make sure you burnt it to an audio CD and not a data disc.
