movieplayer via vlc

Hi all Ive made a couple of images up to date :FRIGHT: one with a downloaded cvs & the other I compiled myself including the diffs that renwich posted (thanks for that) the problem is neither of them will play a file via vlc. My vlc must be ok as it works with other images I have tried the last one being commando 7.5. I have enabled the web interface & that works ok so is there something else that needs enabling ?

Shouldn't be, so long as everything is setup correctly in the movieplayer setup then the dbox should work.

Where does it fail? as in do you get the list of files from the PC shown on the screen? or does it fail when you try streaming?

This problem is now sorted by upgrading to VLC mediaplayer 0.8.6
