Gav's going to Iceland, stay away from that dirty mare Kerry Katona

Motherwell will start their quest for Europa League qualification next month against Icelandic opponents.

Craig Brown's side will play Breioablik from Kopavogur in the second qualifying round of the tournament.

The first leg will be at Fir Park on Thursday 15 July, with the return taking place on 22 July.

Motherwell lost out to Steaua Bucharest in the third qualifying round last season after beating Llanelli and Flamurtari from Albania.

Breioablik are currently second in the Icelandic top flight, having won four and drawn two of their first eight fixtures.

Hibs, who finished one place above Motherwell in fourth spot in the Scottish Premier League, enter in the third qualifying round, while Scottish Cup winners and third-placed Dundee United enter in the final play-off round.

The draw for the third qualifying round takes place on 16 July.

Iceland V Poundstretcher! Lol

apparently it's a wee industrial town just outside the main city, on their day they can beat anyone but then get pummeled by a lower division team the next week....sounds familiar

Cheers

Motherwell could be given a mere 93 tickets for their qualifying Europa League game against Icelandic side Breidablik UBK.

The stadium holds just 1,869 fans and under Uefa rules, visiting supporters are entitled to no more than 5% of the ticket allocation.

Unless Breidablik officials agree to grant the Fir Park side a bigger allocation, then it could be that Well have to settle for a tiny presence in the ground.

At the moment the club hope to hire a charter flight for players, officials and supporters.

Meanwhile, Ross Forbes is well aware that Motherwell cannot underestimate the Icelandic side, whose season is already well underway.

The Fir Park midfielder has lost twice to Iceland while playing for the Scotland Under-19s in 2007.

“We lost both 1-0 and 3-0,” said the 21-year-old. “They were very strong, good technically and were set up well. We can’t think we are through – that’s the wrong attitude.

“They were a very good side then and there is a chance I could come up against some of the same players.”

The first leg is at Fir Park on Thursday, July 15, with the return leg a week later in Kopavogur just outside Reykjavik.

And Forbes feels they are better prepared than last year when they crashed out to Steaua Bucharest in the third qualifying round.

He added: “We are a year older now and have guys in Craig Brown and Archie Knox who have so much experience.”
