Modem help

i have already posted in wireless section but had no response so trying in here.
I have a cable feed into the room, can i run 2 cables off to 2 seperate modems via a splitter and 2 patch cable leads i.e.
1st modem straight into my desktop comp
2nd modem into the fonera wireless sender
both modems will be the ntl home 200 models.
i know i can do it the "normal " way with all the stuff ,but i have everything listed except 2nd modem(get it off ebayyyyyyyyyyy) if it can be done
