Wow, ebuyer have dropped the price yet again on the best 500gb hard drive on the market!!

I can't believe how cheap this is!!!

£39.99 for the Samsung Spinpoint 500gb hard drive, ultra quiet, ultra reliable.

The best of it's class, you will be utter stupid to purchase any other drive which match these qualities.

Add postage for delivery or make the order up to £49.99 with some other item(s) to get free super save delivery!!! Obviously your better off making the oprder up to the £49.99 target as it makes it even more of a bargain.

Mega bargain!!!

Over 2,000 in stock so you could maybe wait a wekk or two before they run out at this price, the reason behind the price cut is due to the 32mb cache hard drives which are now the manufacturers main stream production drive so these will be sold off, so get in while you can, and trust me, these are as fast as the 32mb cache versions!!!! Tihs is one mega bargain!!!

:feck: I paid 60 quid for one of these just before Christmas. Got to say what a good drive. They are very quiet and fast, only problem i had with mine was i got a new case with a generic psu, it blew something on the controller board of the mobo. If anyones thinking of getting one id say go for it.

i got two of these at christmas £60 each and they are the doggys wotsits might get another couple :)

Cheers

I've always liked SpinPoints. They're the quietest drives I've ever come across and they're mega-reliable.

I have to disagree that this is the best 500gb hdd on the market, also it can be found cheaper.
Aria have it for £38.72.
The reason ebuyer are getting rid is because the new 500gb model HD502IJ, is out, and not because of the 32mb cache ones.
This is the old 166gb platter version, the new ones are 250gb.
Dabs have the new one in for £44.87:

Maybe ebuyer will put it in stock when they've sold the old ones.

this is bound to be the cheapest 500gb out there tho

its still a great piece of kit

Cheers

Top man.

Do the new 250 platters have 16mb or 32mb cache?

Just curious as to why they would make a new model if it were 16mb cache?

Not that it makes much difference in the real world, but in terms of production wise it will save them a fortune.

Also just for the record, are the new 250 platters really that cheap?

Flipping heck, I am so behind the times, and it has only been a few weeks since I was out of the PC scene do to this new job!!

So what is the crack the with the 1tb versions?

Are they single or dual platter?

It's still 16mb cache, novatech are doing it for under £50 inc delivery.
I'm sure it'll be cheaper when it's been out a little longer.
The new ones faster and uses less power, the 1tb has 3 platters and is the best on the market(in my opinion) again faster and lower power consumption.
