Im getting all excited over this game :T
Mario Kart: Double Dash is going to be awesome. Players can choose two drivers and team them up to race on karts built for two. The character in the front does all of the driving while the character in the back takes care of the other players by using a variety of items (six normal items and eight special items that only specific characters can use). The game allows for both characters to switch positions allowing two special items to be used! Switching characters while driving will be essential to winning since each character has their own abilities. This is just one of the many innovative steps Nintendo has taken with their Mario Kart series.
It has also been said that the game will support up to eight players via LAN (using up to eight GameCubes with Broadband adapters). This will enable some awesome racing and great tournament opportunities.
The confirmed characters are: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, Daisy, Birdo, Walugi, and Wario. Some characters are obviously missing (such as Toad) but it's highly possible that they are hidden characters within the game. If so, this is the first Mario Kart to offer hidden drivers and it's even possible that Sonic the Hedgehog could be in the game!
The confirmed regular items are: Mushroom(s), Banana, Green Shell(s), Red Shell(s), Blue Flying Shell, Lightning, Star, and Chain Chomp.
The confirmed kart items are: Fireballs, Super Boost, Blobs, Large Banana, Egg, Large Shell, Bowser Shell, and Bob-omb.
