Some time after the Creators Update, Microsoft has apparently released another networking breaking update that affects a variety of wired and wireless adapters, the Atheros AR9285 among them. There's a very large amount of online posting about this particular WiFi and issues with Win 10. Seems to have been one that had issues with 10 all through its first year until the release of the July 12 Servicing Stack Update for both RTM and 1511.
I've tried many different drivers, winsock and other resets, the troubleshooter will "fix" it, for about 30 seconds. then it goes back to no connections available.
I installed that Mini PCIe WiFi adapter as preparation to doing a Windows 10 / OS X dual boot because OS X has no love for Intel WiFi. I've had to go to an Intel Centrino Advanced N just to get usable WiFi on my Latitude E6530. That one "Just Works", no problems at all.
