`Its the severn log cabin 5m x 3m , i went with the 44mm thick logs with double glazing , you get 8 bearers i added the other bits , only because i can get the wood from work.

£3500 comes in kit form , spruce wood and only the bearers are treated. I sprayed it with treatment before i painted it

That is a good price and you saved by erecting it your self saving £1500/2000 I own my own joinery/sawmill and do the odd bespoke mancave

I grew up building aviaries, sheds and pigeon lofts with my Dad. He never drove and I recall the countless times we walked to the local timber yards and reclamation areas to buy timber. We would carry it back on our shoulders with my Dad encouraging me every now and then and asking if I needed a rest.
He never owned a single power tool in those days and I believe they would have been quite a rarity for the average DIYer if they were indeed available.

My Dad was brilliant with wood as was my Grandad back in Scotland who had a workshop which was like an Aladdin's cave for me. Centrepiece was his huge homemade saw table. The place was awash with sawdust, there would be no dust collection systems back then, early sixties. I inherited their love for all things wooden and just love the smell of it.

Wish I was still able to build but am having my shed installed on the 22nd. I may put some pics on this thread but it's going to look like a tent compared to Dave's.

Spot on. That is what ours is costing to be installed and that is mates rates. He has had to dig out loads of earth to get the height to a point where it won’t piss off the neighbors.

What ever the cabin costs is normally 2/3 labour give or take

Well ours is less than that but foundations have been a nightmare because of the slope on our garden and the amount of earth we have had to shift.
