I have a 20gb hard drive in a PC base, i'm looking to connect it to the laptop to give me a further 20 gb for hub use, what cables do i use to connect them?

cheers

Firstly is this a network question as thats the room you posted in m8 ;)

I think you want to share you drive on a networked pc, so you will want to know how to setup a network, yeah ?

Before you go down that road I think I should just add that you cannot share a networked drive on DC ;)

But other than that you need 2 NIC cards and a cross-over cable, then run network setup wizard and bob's your dog :)

or is the 20 gig HD a spare drive in a spare pc? if you have a spare HD you could buy an external usb caddy and put the hard drive in that, then it would be a simple job of connecting up via a usb cable

would i have to remove the HD? or can i link it up still within the main base?

found a caddy for £16.41

you would have to take the hard drive out of the base unit and fit it into the caddy, good thing about it is you can then take the hard drive with you if you take the laptop out ;)
