CD & DVD Lightscribe Technology

Is the Lightscribe technology the same as the NEC stuff they have on their NEC 4551 drives?
And does it work on DL discs?

lightscribe is slightly older, both are only monotone, if you want colour i suggest a printer that prints to cd like the canon i865 / eppy r300 or a thermal one they cost a few bob though
btw you need the correct media to use either for the top of the disc, the nec can print to non used area's of the data side.
