Force the tax paid UKTV stations onto Freeview and Freesat

Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport

UKTV is half owned by BBC Worldwide, which in turn is owned by the BBC. As the BBC is paid by all owners of Television sets, Radio sets and Computers it is deplorable that UKTV is largely not available on Freesat and only five of the channels are available on Freeview.

We demand that a service that we are paying for is made available in it's entirety on the Free to Air formats of Freeview, Freeview HD, Freesat and Freesat HD.

The channels (and their HD equivalents) include the following and any future additions under the UKTV umbrella:

Alibi, Blighty, Dave, Eden, Gold, Good Food, Home, Really, Watch and Yesterday.

We also demand that these channels are immediately removed from Sky's paid subscription service and that any BSkyB action to claim compensation is immediately rejected as they knowingly and willingly entered an agreement that they knew should not have been allowed to happen.

Signed as passed around, get as many on as possible ... :)

signed, put onto facebook, and will spread it around as well :)

UKTV is a commercial operation. They can do what they like, if they feel they need the revenue from Sky/Virgin customers then so be it. Remove that and chances are they'll go bust.

thanx signed will pass about also

remove the 50% subsidy from us UK tax payers and they should go bust!!!

those of us resident in the UK who have a TV license already pay for them so why should we pay twice? they need to sell themselves overseas, that's what BBC worldwide should be all about ffs

another quasi public/private outfit ripping us all off!!!

duly signed and passed on!

BBC Worldwide does sell overseas! The BBC sell programmes to the commercial UKTV to make even more money from old programmes. I don't understand your problem? You get to watch the original transmission and any repeats on the BBC for free just as before while the BBC can make extra money selling it to other UK channels after they are done with the shows. It's a win win situation.

Why? does our licence fee drop inline with the profits OUR good ol aunt beebs makes out of the merchandise as well as its programming. Hell Bob the builder should have covered the cost of the fee for @least 2generations of us fee payers thats with out thinking bout DR Who and Thomas Tank....where the **** can i view detailed income and expenditure list of this company that im supposed to be a part owner of along with all other uk citizens.......and still when they privatise it( which theyWILL when times right) theyll have the ferkin nerve to ask me to pay for the share....Tw@ts...
