Kein System

Hi,

OK, followed a lot of good advice here last night but now have the dreaded Kein System error.

I used Dbox command centre and uploaded the sportster image to the dbox tmp folder.

At last I managed to find a image.img file listed when I looked for it this time.

However, while carrying out the "write one partition" it hung during the erase flash part. The global progress bar was around half way but it stayed like this for a long time, around 10 mins. All I could do was power it off. I knew what would happen and it did. KEIN SYSTEM.

Now my problem seems to be that the IFA does not seem to even attempt to flash the box. I go through all the setup but still nothing happens when I start the box using up and off buttons behind the panel or simply powering the box on.

I am using the null modem cable and crossover cable also.

Here is the log.

Help will be appreciated as always.

Try and bare with the box. It may take sevreal attempts powering on and off for IFA to work but it should, make sure you are in the correct com port.

did you change your network speed? to 10mbit FD? might be a timeout issue?

Yep, it is on 10MB full duplex.

I am getting this error log now

I am running out of things to try.

err i meant HD .. half duplex .. <-!
try it again .. i had that before .. but than suddenly worked ..

OK, set to HD but no joy.

The box keeps rebooting while it repeats the errors in the log.

The debug screen with all the numbers appears, it says LADE at the bottom then just loops again.

Then IFA times out and stops.

debug: B/Ex/Fl(MB) 16/00/08
There is the memory extension board missing or faulty. The box show only 16 MB memory.

Well spotted mgb

I took the box apart and sure enough, the board was loose. I refitted the clip and all was well. I uploaded my services file and it works fine.

One slight worry is than when I did a scan it found nothing. I had to re upload my services file to get the channels back.

Once again thnx for the help

Rgds
