Hi guys,

Im just clarifying what I understand to be BS :) I have a line which is extremely flakey, some channels work (typically the porn and the likes of BBC etc) and others don't (sometimes) like sly and Bein. My provider is telling me that my ISP is blocking it - I don't see why\how they would block it sometimes and not others. Also as I see it the ISP would only see traffic from my IP to the server IP and wouldn't know exactly what was being streamed (obviously they could see the ports etc)

So Im asking - am I correct in thinking its rubbish what they are saying and that the fact some channels are fine and others not is down to their server and not my ISP blocking?

Cheers

Probably a bit hassle but directing everything through a proxy would prove the theory that it's not your ISP.

Well I hot spotted off my mobile effectively using another ISP and it still played up :(

If you are trying to watch when a big match is on then it could be the blockers that are stopping it

The FACT/FAST people (or whatever sly's private militia are called now) block a lot of IPTelly streams on a Saturday afternoon when the footys on.
A VPN should solve the issue but a lot of the iptelly resellers have banned the VPN IPs from connecting to their servers, partly due to people (like me) trying to bruteforce their way in for free (sorry bout that :) )
I'd say half of the iptelly services I've tried (100s) don't work through the VPNs I've tried (cos we're bruting them too :) )

Here's a news story about the blocking with some links to older news stories on the subject ..

stopping some a fact doubt can stop all but time will tell

It is possible that some channels could be blocked by ISP even from your own provider because it depends on source of it as not many providers (if any) locally source all their channels so it's outsourced so-to-speak.

You say some channels flaky. Clarify? Do you mean outright channel wont work (ie no audio and video) or a lot of glitching/buffering type thing?

If it's some channels outright don't work at all then it's possible that stream (depending on source) is being blocked by EPL/ISP, etc.

If it's some channels glitch/buffer then could be provider, your setup (ie broadband speed).

SO.... Ive had a few providers over the time and this is the first time Ive had issues. Initially nothing bar the likes of BBC and porn would work and then all of a sudden (I changed nothing) the sly and the like cleared - when the games had finished.
This morning BT worked flawlessly until I decided to flip over to Bein then nothing worked (apart from BBC etc and porn) Im starting to see a pattern here. So yeah on the whole the service was sh1t anyway I got my money back and the hunt continues :)

You'd be better brute forcing the DB and creating your own accounts, that actually trying to brute force the server. If the provider has any sense then they're hiding behind cloud flare or similar, and would have DDOS mitigation. But as most of the people running these services are monkeys I doubt they're even aware of such services.

I also know of providers who insist upon you using a VPN for certain things, especailly when the footie is on.

Some providers actually supply the resellers with provider panels to easily admin the service.
The provider panel software is fully documented and available online for closer inspection to make it easier if you get lucky and get a hit, so setting up accounts and changing the no. of connections and expiration dates is all possible if you can get access.
There's far less of them tho and panel admins aren't often stupid enough to use a crappy user/pass combo from a dictionary or reuse old details that may have been leaked already to secure them so they're a bit harder to brute than just cycling through the usual lists to find a user account with a crappy user/pass but yes it's definitely possible ;)

Flakeyness is often down to them not being prepared for spikes in traffic like on Sunday when there's only one game on, they struggle with the demand for a single channel. The better ones tend to have multiple copies of the sports channels to spread the load so that's the 1st thing I look for when I'm demo ing a new service.

Yeah most of them use admin panels as resellers. You'd be surprised the amount of people using details over and over, even after they've been leaked in other breaches. You using rainbow tables as well?

Whilst the traffic spikes are an issue, that says more about their technical knowledge than anything else. You could easily use multiple servers, using a load balancer, but again they dont know what these are. You can even have virtual ones in the cloud these days, so it's no big issue. That, and they have a poorly specc'd server, low CPU/RAM and low bandwidth, then wonder why their streams are poor.

Court order allowed the big ISPs to block streams of certain events.
(mostly EPL/Champions league footie)

Recently sly has done it on boxing PPV with some success. Most supplier were taken unawares by boxing PPV but fix has been implemented.
(just like EPL/UEFA block)

Most suppliers now have method to bypass this “WITH OUT VPN”
The new method of recent is not to block your IP but to block host server.
Can be a costly hit as new server required once picked up.
Cloud-Flare is thing of past with those issues.

I know a certain provider was getting hit by DDoS and within minutes was able to stop it via
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

I suspect your supplier is getting last years news.

A VPN should always be used anyway. Not for issues outlined but to keep your underwear around your hips.
(Paid no logging one that is)
PIA all the way for me.
🙂
