Hi,
I have not been playing with the Dbox for long. i am using a sat version. I also have a dreambox 5620.

With the 5620 there is an "Erase" image which can be flashed to make sure nothing is left behind in the flash. i have used this in the past when I get random things happening and the image that has been flashed dosen't work quite as you expect it to. It cleans the flash compleatly letting you flash a nioce new uncorrupted image over the top.

Is there such a thing for the DBOX?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Such a thing is not needed for a dbox2. On a dbox2 the whole flash memory will be erased except the bootloader part before the new image get written to the flash.

how do you know that there is nothing left that can vcorupt the image?

If you check the flash log you can see the erase command.
erase 10020000 107fffff
