Hey guy's

Had a phone call asking, could I please come round and fix a family members pc. After speaking to them on the phone I found out windows is saying DNS server not found.

Virgin, their ISP is saying.......Reinstall windows xp. It's not a fault on their side.

I'm thinking when I go over their tomorrow I'll take a replacement Ethernet card just in case. The other thing is, it could be virus.

Any other thoughts guy's.........?

Likely set to a proxy server in internet explorer settings. Often caused by malware/spyware on the machine. You will need to remove malware and may need to manually correct the settings in IE.

Hey! pinkhelmets.
It was a Virus..... With the works.
They had stuff like limewire installed and some P2P software....
What a mess!

IE was dead and there was no reviving it.

So for the record Virgin phone support were right.
