My wife put some dishes in the wash this morning and went out...

I was in the kitchen and smelled an electrical burning smell and traced it to the dish washer.....

I stopped the machine immediately and observed there was no water in the washer...

I have checked water supply and pressure at the adjacent sink, all ok... I was wondering if there was a schematic or something that would give me an idea of the process and the components involved so I can determine what if any component (control card etc) might have failed to save me the cost of paying a rip off engineer...

the first thing that comes to mind is a solenoid valve water inlet that might have failed ????

I would agree about the solenoid valve, but details of manufacturer and model would help. Take he top off and have a look, the valve will obviously be just inside the machine on the inlet pipe.

Sensor for water level may say full when it’s empty or pump may be jammed this
May make motor over heat that’s what happened to me son put coke can top in jammed
Pump. Ok try this Put water in washer so you can see it close door then turn on and see if it pumps out water.
