Immersion element.

A while ago i lost my hot water in copper cylinder and when i switch it on electrical noise smoke and sparks under the cover is not the way i want.
It seems to be arcing and smoking at the base of the black box where a tube goes down into the Cylinder.
Is that all part of the element inside the tank or something else.
I am wary of trying to get the element replaced as if it might be seized in place and dont want to have to get a new cylinder.

Not a expert but if your element goes it would trip your fuse box , or just have no hot water

But looking at the picture you uploaded , looks like the brown wire to the right could need tightening up or checked ?

Turn all the electric off and use a torch to tighten up ect

No movement in that brown wire , no tripping of fuse box yet only the arching at the base and taped over both switches so not to power it on.

So can a new thermostat fix this as might have to google that.

On another note does anybody know if solar powered thermal system use a stainless steel cylinder over a copper cylinder.

Watching this video the thermostat goes down into the element and is loose , my one does not turn and wonder if it arc welded itself in place.

Thermostats are loose.

Mate bite the bullet its not worth a house fire.

New element, thermostat and renew the wiring to it.

Yes already rang them as coming on Monday to service my Thermal solar panels and asked them to look at my immersion which is 15years old and hopefully can replace it easily without buying a new cylinder.
I have sent them photos of label on immersion and the label and name of the element should make it easier on them as its only heating a sink and no bath.

8am doorbell rang as here to do thermal service , dont know anything about heating element as asked him and got an email off company saying we dont do that side of things.
Old coolant and pressure down to 0.5 bar.
No noise from it know and be interesting to see and feel hot water again.
