iMac 27 wifi

Its an imac 27 inch from 2011. Decent spec, runs well on ethernet. Wifi networks dont even show up, on my other devices even my neighbours wifi shows up.

Have clean restored high sierra and even tried unofficial catalina.

Have an access point and if the imac is next to the access point it will connect wirelessly.

So it does work but no range. Is a new airport card going to fix this issue?

your wifi may be 5g and your wireless card may only support 2g.

on your desktop hold the "alt" key and click the WIFI symbol then have a look and see can your card see 5g networks.

As far as I can see you mac have 802.11n is and it operates in Dual Band mode. The protocol will support 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Maybe try to reset your wifi setting?
