i want to connect to mates pc without him being there

We've been using remote desktop thingy, but he has to grant me permission ?

Where do i go or what do i look for ?

Are you on XP Pro or Home?

On Pro, you should be able to get there remotely without being authorised. Do it all the time in work. I'm not too sure if you can do this on XP Home.

you can use a program like pcanywhere, if you search google will find it.
