I have a 90cm dish with a motor connected to a DM600PVR -s When selecting a satellite all the motor does is stay at zero or moves a few degrees and then back again. I have found that if you manually move the dish via remote then save as a store point it will goto that store point BUT trying to find sat's manually is not that easy. Does any one know of a way to just get the motor to move to the wright sat with out all this manual moving.

Thanks to all.

perhaps the motor is not 'USALS' or go-to-x compatible? Or perhaps you do not have the correct diseqc settings input into the dm600? Make sure you have it set to use usals/go2x and that you have your correct latitude & longitude input in the menu.

as pinky says is the best way to do it (as long as your motor is compatible). go into the motor setup menu, the option you want is complex setup, many satellites via diseqc rotor, then tick the use goto X function box and enter your lat and lon (go to www.multimap.com enter your postcode and its the figure in brackets you want)

as long as your dish and motor is installed correctly you should now be able to turn to any satellite on the arc

I'm using the Gemini 3.5 image and the only option I have is goto x or manual. I have set the Lon and Lat but it still don't move the only way I can get it to move is to put in store points manualy but this is very hard to do as i'm having to manually move the dish a little bit at a time via remote until I get a signal then do a search and hope that it is the right sat which in most cases it isn't.

Can you send the motor to 0º then try again? There should be an option somewhere in the image to do that.

The motor I have is a Fortec Star. I have tried to sort this out with info from other sites on the web. I have just spent the day just doing it with store points. So thanks to every one who has tried to help me. I do just have one more question though and it is to do with SoftC*ms and K*ys. I have come accross a lot of channels that wont open ie: Porn and Film channels. So my question is what satellites are best to use with the SoftC*ms and K*ys.

Thanks to all

Furk!!, I didn't know that.
I've had to sit and manually search for each sat individually.:)

This was how I set mine up last week but I think I'm going to get it down and start from scratch. At the time I didn't know what the go to x function was for.

Every day's a school day ;)

Seriously thinking about getting a technomate 9100 aswell as having two dreamboxes is a bugger as one remote controls two boxes lol.

if the only way to move the motor is manually then perhaps it can only be that the motor isnt usals compatible, in other words its just Diseqc1.2 only (the old-fashioned way).
Usals was a great upgrade for diseqc because it allows simple location of all the sats and means you can even find the weakest of signals easily. It also means you can forget about tuning in 1west and chose any sat you want initially :). But its only good if the motor is modern enough to support it.

Can you name any manufactor of motor that does support usuals as I was sold this motor being compatable with the DM600 Whis it is if you set all your sat's manualy this is such a ball ache.

the technomate tm-2100-a motor supports usals m8

should get one for about £50 off fleabay
