How do i add a custom spalsh screen and skin to a backup image?

As above i fancy having a play at customising my backup any tut's about?

for the tm800, the skins dont fit the screen properly, so not really worth bothering with those atm

for the startup splash screen though, ftp a picture to /boot and rename it logo.jpg, overwriting the original one in there. reboot the receiver and job done
