hd - hard drive?

its standard unmodded box at the mo, ordering a chip for it this week, got a 160G hdd for it (a friends gonna load a shed load of games onto it, all the sega, nintendo classics and a ton of xbox ones, can i just clone this drive for other boxes?)

XP does have an DHCP server built in.

As does your router....by the looks of things.

The IP structure is going to be 192.168.2.XXX

with the Router assigning address between xxx.xxx.xxx.2 - xxx.xxx.xxx.100.

I dont know about the xbox side of things, but you want your MAIN PC to have a static IP addy.

As your Router is 192.168.2.1 set the PC to 192.168.2.2. subnet 255.255.255.0

reboot, start the main machine and then the other PC's, then an IP addy will be assigned

yeah, and change the dhcp setup to assign addresses from .3 to .100
also in the dhcp, set the dns to the ones your main pc gets via the dsl modem,
so your other pcs can resolve addresses
and the gateway to be 192.168.2.2 (your main pc)

so hopefully when your other pcs turn on, they will get all the right settings from the router, and get internet access
