Help with upgrading my broadband line

I am on Tiscali and want to upgrade to their 8Mb MAX service with phone calls included. My problem is that I don't know if my router&modem is capable of an 8Mb line. Atm it is fine with a 2Mb line, but i dont know if that is it's max speed.

My router and modem combination is the Linksys AG041.

I have tried google but it didnt help much tbh.

I can't really afford to change my router, so any help anyone has with this would be great.

My phone line is capable, but i thought that some old routers had a maximum speed they can connect to.

My uncle had to buy a new router to get an 8Mb connection.

The answer to your question is no! the specs on that modem don't state ADSL 2+ which is what you want to upgrade too.

Thats doesn't mean that it won't work but your very unlikely to obtain the 8mb download speed.

A firmware update could fix that so check this link

I emailed Belkin before I upgraded to 8Mb and got a reply within 48 hours.

Hmm, I just talked to Linksys on a live web chat and they said it should work ok, and that it should work with ADSL2, sooo now im confused.

I have emailed Tiscali, so i'll see what they say.
