help with freesat

new to freesat

is there a best way to install it as I got a dish and box
I have put the dish on the wall and and used a signal finder and still can not puck up any channels

is there a best way to face the dish and angle please

Have a look at dishpointer.com it will show you the direction you need to point the dish to. Sat for UK is on 28.2. Also look at your neighbours dish as a guide. It is not just sidways movement, but also up/down and finally lnb skew.

If it is possible have the freesat and tv where you can see it from the dish. That way you can see when you have a picture. Can't remeber but does freesat boxes have a signal strength indication within the settings. You could also leave the box on a uk only channel that way you would know when you're on Astra.

And bear in mind that a minidish must be within 1 degree of the correct position to get any signal. Even more accuracy is required with a larger dish. You can't simply "point it the same as the neighbour's dish". Dave's satelliteforcaravans site has a good explanation.
