Help needed with STEAM

i know nothing about pc games or stuff, and don't even know if i have put this in right section, but a friend at work has purchased, yes PURCHASED from a shop, a legit copy of Half Life 2, ep.1

Her husband has installed and registered it, but when my friend from work tried to log in to it, and used wrong password, they are now BOTH locked out from it and therefor cannot play it at all.

with purchasing it full price from a shop, they are not happy.

any ideas greatly welcomed.

They'll need to fill out this online form: http://support.steampowered.com/cgi.../php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=1ondGYui&p_lva=301

and attach a scan/digital photo of the cd key with the account username on.

If they are not sure of the account name they need to submit the form without the scan to get the support number, then write the support number on the pic and update the form with the image attached.

If it's the STEAM client that wont let them log on try deleting the .blob file in the steam directory. (Solves every issue with STEAM). Restart STEAM, it should then require a password to get in, and you can type in the correct one.

That's how it used to be anyway.
