DETECTIVES hunting a dangerous paedophile who snatched a 14-year-old girl off the street as she walked to school yesterday stepped up their bid to catch the beast before he strikes again.
The fiend grabbed the terrified youngster then marched her 100 yards to his car in full view of unsuspecting passers-by in Dollar, Clackmannanshire, before sexually assaulting her.
He then dumped the girl on a lonely farm track after the horrific attack last week.
Officers stopped passing motorists in the area yesterday in a bid to jog their memories and have also launched a UK-wide appeal for clues.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Johnston, who's leading the hunt, said: "This girl went through a terrifying ordeal. The urgency in this case is to trace the offender to prevent any further crimes occurring.
"We're desperate to catch him and we're doing everything we can to do so."
He added: "This appears to be a unique crime in Scotland - it's not happened anywhere else. But we're liaising with all UK police forces to see if something similar has happened in their area."
The monster, who was driving a green car, struck at 8.20am on a back road in the town - close to local schools.
The suspect is described as being in his mid-30s, about 5ft 8in with short brown, receding hair and bad skin.
Police believe he may have been wearing a Celtic FC-branded top.
