Probably the same as an aircon unit strapped to the outside of the building assuming you mean air source and not ground source
they look a fair bit bigger than aircon units, but if that will work great

Total waste of money IMO, you'd be much better off improving your insulation and getting an oil filled heater, they are super efficient!

OK read the article and it says nothing about emersion heaters. Really what it says is that UK homes are not insulated enough to use the tech and goes on to say "They have been around for years on the continent – especially in Scandinavia, where houses are better insulated than they are in Britain. " so in a cold country they do work
I think he might be referring to the graphic which shows that a hot water tank would be needed. Seems a bit of a step back to me.
