I have an asus laptop with a hdd password after 3 wrong passwords. Sa said:

you need to download hirens boot cd and there is some hdd password tools on the disc

The HDD password is part of the ATA disk specification and is implemented by the drive firmware.
There is a user password and a master password. Either can unlock the drive.
On some laptops if you lock the laptop with a password the BIOS also locks the drive.
There is no way to recover the user password if you have lost it.

IF you cant remove the Pasword, maybee you could change the elektronic of the hdd with an other hdd from ebay.

What do you mean whit external hdd password? What external hdd are you using? Is it encrypted? Where is this password questioned?

Use Hires boot and form there use MHDD
The best way to remove the password is to reprogram eeprom on hdd
