Is it possible to watch hd channels on a hd ready(720p) tv?

is the picture quality reduced as the broadcast is 1080i and the tv is 720p??

my opinion is that a 1080i picture would be slightly less quality than a 720p due to the way the picture is produced, but screen size, lighting, cables and other factors would also influence it m8

if youre thinking of getting a technomate 68/6900 then they output 720p and 1080i anyway via HDMI

1080i and 720p are basically the same thing. If the tv is under 40 inches are under then I wouldnt worry at all about it not being full hd,also it will be a very long time before 1080p will be broadcast on sat.

A 720p television can take a 1080i signal aswell,so if you get the reciever try 1080i and 720p on the reciever, the tv will show both and then pick the one you prefer better.

720p will prob be better for sports or anything fast moving

1080i will probably be better for everything else, but its also down to personall preferance, some people will prefer one to another.
