Some of you guys must really understand all this jtag stuff.
I've been looking at the f*ck*d 120 boards i got.
Tsops off and pads knackered.
Taking the tsop off and all that is stone age surely.
I've downloaded everything i could on jtags and qamlinks.
Those of you who know heres my question.
Those soldered filled holes in the ambit board are for the manafacturer to put the software in the chips, and also for developing and debugging in the development stage.

Tell me if i'm wrong?

If there was a jtag for the ambit. Then would be possible to delete the tsop, and then write new firmware to it?
Like a none updated 200 dump?

I noticed just looking at the pcb board of an ambit 120 that the TXD and the RXD go to the solder filled holes. (whats the name for those holes?)
I think i've read that these are a part of a jtag?
So the other holes must be for something else.
The cable tv blokes must know about all this stuff?
Is'nt that how they do all that?
I know niche about tv stuff and don't want to either
Anyone got a diagram of an ambit board that tells you whats whats.
I'd risk messing with one just to find out!

i dont think there is a jtag for ambits m8 as i spoke to a guy about it from tcniso like i may be wrong tho so like have a look around thats just what i belive there may be a jtag available im not into modems that mutch so im sure someone has a better idea than me ;)

the ambit 120 does have a jtag point
but it is called ejtag
the qamchip bmc3445
spec sheet
tells u

Whats the difference between jtag and ejtag?
The ambt 200 have the same sort of solder filled holes.
It says use qamlink in normal mode.
That seems to indicate that you can do something with it.
Obviously they put software on the chip somehow in the manafacture.
If you knew what all the solder filled hole where for then maybe it would be possible to do something with it.

There are 5 connections necessary for JTAG:

A - TCK
B - TMS
C - TDI
D - TDO
E - TRST (sometimes optional)
This is what i've got from reading stuff.
I don't really understand it,but can you not apply what the tv guys do to the ambits.
Someone who understands this let us know.
Obviously there was no need to investigate a jatg for the ambits.
Before the update but more and more modems that peeps might pick up from ebay and car boots are gonna have the update say in the next year.
I got my last one from ebay. I ain't gonna buy no more.
I might go for an sb4*** as soon as i see a cheap one. If there is such a thing?

ya there is a tenner ready made lol :) i think its for like flashing the tsop? to chnage the bootloaderdont quote me on it but aye a u can get ejtags for a tenner :)
