Gtrom loader

I am on my second null cable now, as ruling out issues.
I have connected cable between pc & starview, started up gtromloader v4.00

selected upload channel data, now gtromloader appears to be unresponsive, well has been for ten minutes now. eventually comes up with flash update failed
any idea why this would be happening?
