Gas meter box

British Gas, now Transco installed the plastic casing. around teh meter when they replaced the iron gas pipe. The casing is now broken. They wont remove teh meter so I can replace the backing plate. If I get a brand new backing plate as part of my purchase, why should I use a discoloured one and throw the new one in the bin?

So if I take the casing off and the meter damages because of the rain what do they do to me?

Or should I be a pain in the rear and get them to remove the meter and the gas pipe from my garden. And then pay to have a new meter pipe and box installed?

They get these in bulk and costs them peanuts, can't they just send one in the post?

typical British gas... I had similar issues as they tend to take every shortcut possible.... its very frustrating. Keep hassling and i'm sure they will send you one if you keep being annoying !

Tell them I smell gas and when they come show them the problem

If its not a smart meter tell them you want one and then get them to fit the new case at the same time
