Fta 101 Box

hello there people i have a fta101 box here in front of me its my mates people have said you dont need to flash these ive done a auto scan and a manual scan the signal bar is ok the feed is in etc i can get all channels with auto scan and i can with manual but when i goto select a channel eg skysports 1 theres no sound or picture but when i select itv 1 it ocmes on so im guessing only the teresterial channels are coming on anyone help is appricated if i need to flash it with modified image could someone please direct me to it and what cable i need to get to flash this fta 101 box regards ant
