The Humax box Will scan for other Non freesat channels :)

other receivers you have to input freq etc manually

better go for a HUmax ;)

I install the Tm 3100 and that seems to do a good job in picking up all the channels.

yes it will pick up more channels, as well as the data streams used for interactive features.

but........

it has no EPG, it has no ethernet connection, it has no MHEG interactivity, it has no digital text, and even though it is a brill receiver (im one of the biggest TM fans, i got them all lol) its not as user friendly for the general (thick) public as a fresat receiver is

yeh but no but yeh but no right cos dutcho was in the fun room yeh and jimmyp came in and caught him drinking blue wkd wearing mittens right then mairyhinge spilt lemon pop all over him and anyway i wasnt even there so shu'up right :proud:

noooooo, lol

the public in general want a nice easy guide to use, pretty OSD's to look at, and never have to do anything more than turn it off and on if it goes wrong, which the TM cant really offer when compared to freesat/sly boxes EPGs ;)

Freesat is the better free satellite system imho, but if someone hasnt experienced it i'm sure they'll find FTA good enough.
It is a shame to not have the epg, or the simplicity, like auto adding new channels as they are added, or auto updating of PID broadcasting changes, or interactive, or common channel numbers that are advertised etc. But at least it means you will have to go back for more caravan holidays to keep it updated :). Tv guides are easy enough to buy to know whats on.
Regards.
