i had a 250 gig hard drive in a usb caddy
i was using most of it for family videos and pics
for some reason probably because i was bored i decided to take the hard drive out of the caddy and put it into my pc as i had spare ide
now, when i put the hard drive in my pc i booted it up and once i opened my computer i could see the hard drive i just installed
when i clicked on it , it said this drive is not formatted do you want to formatt
for some stupid reason i clicked yes and formatted
now ive relised whats happened im shi**ing myself
have i lost all of my data or can it be recovered
if yes what is best software to use

Make sure you don't use the drive in anyway prior to attempting to recover your files from it! If you put stuff on the drive, you'll really struggle to get data back.

place your hard drive back into the caddy download a programme called system mechanics with this programme you have a hard drive recovery utillity. Im not to sure if this will recover the data from a formatted hard drive but i know it will recover data that has not been written over.

ok, I know i'm getting old but I always used a HEX reader to search for all the stuff I wanted on a formatted drive
