Foreign satellite equipment seized from Newcastle pubs

Foreign satellite equipment has been seized from two Newcastle pubs.

Newcastle City Centre Trading Standards raided the Beyond Bar & Grill on Newgate Street and the Bluebell in Jesmond in conjunction with Northumberland police.

An investigation is now also underway into the suppliers of the equipment, which was used to screen Premier League football matches.

"These raids should serve as a warning to licensees who are using foreign satellite equipment to broadcast Barclays Premier League football," said a Premier League spokesman.

"If publicans continue to ignore the existing advice of the courts in respect of the illegal use of foreign satellite systems then they will be subject to legal action."

Yes but we come round in the end (even if we have to take it the European courts) for instance the duty free allaoance within the EU has now been abandoned and we can bring back what we like.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if they used this deffence

That is a very good question but lets face it, the laws are there to protect monopolies whether they are pharmaceuticals or media companies.

The law always comes down harder on white collar crime against the 'machine' rather than paedophiles or murderers.

It all boils down to the fact that we are SUBJECTS not citizens, hence we are subjugated and those that have the power over us treat us like shit, even the the councils now are full of little Hitlers.

Us brits get ripped of in every way our justice system is a pile of cr*p. European law states that for electrical good that a minimum guarantee of 2 years but somehow here in the uk its only 1 year don't know how we get away with it. I really hope this gets taken to European court and the pubs win theres alot of pubs round my way which dont have sky anymore as its too expensive and they are scared to go the foreign sat route due to reasons like this
