on a 51 plate diesal the timing belt isnt a belt its a chain

if serviced regulary it should never need changing

hard to say its suposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle
if it is serviced
but as for not being serviced
i couldnt say
well i wouldnt like to say

how much is it going for??

Think you'll find the cam belt (Ford) service interval is 100.000 miles, however the tensioner pulley is likely to give up the ghost before then, I had mine done at 60.000 to be safe, also consider changing the water pump when doing the cam belt, its the same dismantling expensive procedure as the cam belt and worth doing while everything is out of the way.
The is a cam belt by the way. The Gemini chain is to drive the fuel injection pump from the crankshaft

the standard petrol engines (duratech) in the mk3's are also chain driven and NOT belt driven, as stated though although they are chain driven its wise to get the tensioner done
