Fat 32 and 200 hard disk

Ihave a ? for some one can a 200 gig hard drive formated in fat 34 work in in windows Xp sp2 and all update's.

Only asking as a mate has one for sale and i wouldent mine putting it in hear in place of my 80 gig slave.

? Would it read as 200 gig formated in fat 32 on me xp home.

yes it would read it fine, but you can allways change it over to ntfs format if you need to.
 
So what your saying mate is that XP can read fat 32 and NTFS ok.

Only asking as i was told that you had to change to ntfs to read biger hard drives over 127 gig and i dont wont to get it if it will only read the 127 and not the full 200.

It'll work fine, with a few limitations. The main one being that you can't have a single file which is larger than 4GB.

Usually only a problem if you use a lot of large iso images.

As Napster said, it is easy to convert to NTFS if you want too.
 
Cheers good read m8, ill try a 200 in fat 32 and if my xp wont see it i think ill have to reformatt me c drive and the 200 drive in ntfs.
