Well first off i dont do social media so i aint got a Scooby do about what im going to ask.

Wife has used an iphone 5 lol for well forever because she lost the email account and has forgotten the password associated to Facebook & Messenger but the iphone 5 still is logged in on them.

Any way i can retrieve the account so we can ditch this old phone ?
 
best would be to go to support on the signed in device and explain situation on there see if them can help you via that

Can you not request an email notification when she gets a new message or post to her facebook page. then an email would go to her email account associated with facebook.







Tap in the top right of Facebook.
  1. Scroll to the bottom and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications below Preferences.
  3. Tap Email below Where You Receive Notifications.
  4. From here, you can adjust how often you receive email notifications and what you get email notifications about.

Thanks mate im of sort with you but the other half does not know the password of the email account or a recovery email account so could not request anything to that email.

I suspect all this was setup all those year back by one of my then teenage daughter's who most probably used some dodgy email account.

Doing mi nut in this

Do you have old desktop/laptop that might have been used and has any messages

Not sure if you can check login and passwords on phones like you can on pc.
 
How about backing the Iphone up to Itunes ; then do a 'restore' to your new Iphone

This of course assumes your wife is going to stick with Apple !!!

and don't bin the old Iphone until you are sure it has transferred to Facebook account correctly.............. ;)

Tried that mate, it will transfer the apps but they still need you to login to them so the backup does not store the user details.
 
Probably be easier to start fresh and set up a new account.

But shame on you for leaving her with an iphone 5 for all these years... have you never heard of Santa 🎅 lol
 
I don't know if I am being thick here (it does happen :cool:) If she as the user name can't you do the forgotten password that may give you a different option to retrieve apart from old email ????. you can do that on computer rather than messing with phone ??

If you're using the browser to login, then you should be able to get the password that way. If it's the app, then NFI!
 
Rite then. @albob kind of got me thinking and in a way he had it right.

When i made the back up of the old Iphone 5 i just made a normal backup no encryption so passwords were not saved to the backup. If id of run an encrypted backup and restored with that messenger and facebook would of still been logged in after transferring it to the new phone.

So i still dont know the passwords but i can now be seen in public with the other half without been reported.

No expense spared tha no's a reconditioned like new 😂 Iphone 11 with Messenger & Facebook fully operational.

Everyday there another lesson out there.
