years a go i used a prog that would log anything a exe file did on start up and then after you where done with the exe you could just click a button and del any files that the exe add to your system ,,i have not got a clue what it called now ,,could anyone give me the name of it plz

thk you for the reply but it was not for installed prog it was for running thing like keygen it would check what it did on startup and then del any files or reg change as you know a lot of keygen and thing are unsafe to use

I have a separate windows installation running on Microsoft Virtual PC. If the HDD is configured to use an undo disk you can always go back to a preset state.

Boot-up Virtual PC, install virus ridden apps and keygens. Close Virtual PC and delete any changes.

The same thing can be achieved with VMware server and snapshots, but IMO Virtual PC makes it easier for throw away environments with the undo disk.

Almost.....but no cigar

Don't think it's what you are talking about and it doesn't have an auto rollback thing, but for seeing exactly what different things are doing to your system the sysinternals tools - RegMon and FileMon are useful.

Recently bought over by M$ and available from them.
