Eurovox - V - Dbox2

I have a Eurovox 2. Its a nice neat stb but if you want a decent epg, the dbox is the one to go for as the epg on the Eurovox is crap.

Also, this may seem like a couple of silly questions, but are the dbox and eurovox box's both digital cable recievers and not analog ? I.E - just like the pace box's and do they recieve ppv movies even if your in a vod area ???

Also, can people please confirm, do the dbox2 and euro-vox2 give out very good high quality pictures ??? You see, ive got a big plasma screen and those of you who have a plasmas will know that most of them need a good high quality tv signal input or else they produce pretty crappy quality pictures, ive just found this out myself because my pace digital box is fecked and so ive resorted back to my golden oldies ntl analog box, and i'll tell ya summit, the picture quality is pure crap compared to what it was before with the pace cable box.
Anyway, can people please confirm if both the dbox2 & euro-vox2 will give out good high quality pic's.

The EPG is like the software in a standard cable box (NTL & TW call theirs Liberate) the software for the EPG runs under the Linux Operating System (which basically means you can modify it to your hearts content)
The FTA stands for 'Free to Air' I believe.
The dbox which originates from Germany is created by a wierd little 'loophole' in German Law, you see the German media providers were forced to allow customers to use thier own equipment, due to customer demand (i.e most didn't want to 'rent' the equipment) Sort of like Freeview over here. It's a lot more complicated than that but thats the basics of how dboxes started.
You may also be wanting to look at a Dreambox.... like a dbox but smaller/faster & newer

I dont mean to cause too much of a stir but i know people who are receiving VOD on a dbox.... you can only watch what somebody else in your area has ordered, but its a start.
Dont get too excited... its not as good as you think, and it takes alot of setting up and researching to get it done, but its possible.

PLEASE. Buy a dbox2 and scrap your pace/samsung. This applies to all members. I can't stress enough of how easy these boxes are to set up, and how powerful they are. The picture quality is simply amazing. The latest image which is being developed by gav (many thanks to him) is near HDTV quality. A dbox is not just a cable receiver, it is a multimedia terminal. It integrates with your PC and network. It runs linux.
Eurovox is poor compared to dbox - dbox is the way forward. JIMMYQ from this section will back me up on that Me and him are working on something... heck, just go buy a dbox

I agree the DBOX is better mate
but we have to remember, to some ppl out there who have already invested the only money they can afford for a while in their Pace or Samsung boxes, scraping it just would not be affordable to them because lets face it if we had the money to keep buying the latest and best model we could afford to go lagit (god forbid lol).
So its make do and mend for most of us poor ppl.
If you are starting out in this game then yes start with a DBOX

as above WE recommend people to buy a DBOX as myself and Liam are working on something big which we cannot disclose at this moment of time
but believe... you will not go wrong with a DBOX!

DBOXs are all back online! Only a simple update was needed. Most dboxes did not go off... only the ones with older boxcracker and nextgen images
I always said that the dbox would outlast the pace and sammys
And for those interested... the dbox DOESNT use a card - so when the cable companies do something like this then all we need to do is edit the software slightly and hey presto all channels back! Whilst you guys have to wait for a new hex to be released for your tit2s' and au funcards
