The same old age Question amfraid
i am trying to change a Telnet login in Putty but with out sucesss
Am getting error message
xxx.xxx.x.xx(stb ip)login :root
Passwordpressed enter)
try to type in new password
Login incorrect Message

In Dcc e2 am trying to get full connection but checking network Message all IP addresses are correct

Any help appreciated

After the login the command is

passwd


Not password.

Cursor(typing new password nothing on screen)

When you enter your password after the passwd command nothing shows on the screen thats normal but it will be taking the new password.

You have to enter the command passwd after login then your new password once then it should ask for you to repeat it do that then its changed.

You could also try ditching dcc and using the stand alone telnet prog Puttytel
