Electric Bikes

Hi,

My Middle Aged Daughter would like an Electric Bike for her birthday. Although she will not be using it for any rugged terrain, there are a lot of steep and rough potholed lanes in her area that she will need to negotiate when going shopping etc

Not having owned any type of bike for some 50/60 years I have no idea what I should be looking for, so could any cycling member give me any Tips and suggestions please.
