DVD/RW AD-7580S DVD103 Burning Problem

Ok guys im having problems with my DVD burner on my ACER ASPIRE 5735Z, first off all i snapped the tray, so i brought another dvd drive DVD/RW AD-7580S DVD103. Plays, Reads everything ok but for some reason it is failing at about 42% with an error about unable to write start track ????

I did manage to get a good burn on a DVD-RW + though, iv cleaned the optic and updated the F/W to no avail. Anybody know anything i could try or could the drive be dead ?

sound like how mine went, coasters every other disc.

you could always get an external caddy and a proper dvd writer.
